The UK is rolling out 5G commercial services in six cities at speeds of up to 1Gbps

The UK is to launch the first commercial 5G network service for consumers in six cities.As a result, after South Korea and the United States, Britain becomes the third country in the world to achieve commercial 5G.EE, the UK's leading mobile operator, is reportedly rolling out next-generation 5G services in selected areas in London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Birmingham and Manchester.


For British consumers to enjoy the benefits of 5G services, such as speed and reliability, certain conditions will have to be met, including the purchase of 5G mobile phones and packets, and the location of the service areas in the six cities.

Even in the busiest areas of the network, users can expect speeds of 100 to 150 Mbps when using 5G networks, with some users even reaching the milestone of 1Gb per second, EE said.

EE will roll out 5G commercial services in 10 other UK cities later this year, including Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds, hull, Sheffield, Nottingham, leicester, coventry and Bristol.It will be rolled out in more UK cities by 2020.
